It is very important for us at LCPO to share one of many reasons we are very passionate about spay and neuter. That reason is our sweet Dillon Pickles. Dillon was a very special dog to us at LCPO and it hurt us to watch him deteriorate each day. Dillon was found as a stray and he came to us from the SPCA of Luzerne County with an unknown cause for his inability to walk. Dillon visited vets and specialists and we tried so hard to find him help but sadly his disorder was degenerative and non reparable. Dillon was the most friendly and loving dog we have ever met, he loved every person or animal he met and greeted each day with a zest for life. Dillon left us to cross the Rainbow Bridge on April 21, 2012. That is a day we will never forget. It pains us to know Dillon suffered and we hope that by offering a low cost spay and neuter program we can help to prevent unwanted litters of pit bulls. Often times accidental litters result in dogs having many kinds of issues, medically or with their temperament or even both. If you are a not a licensed breeder with a strong knowledge of the breed and a desire to do anything but make money you should not be breeding and there is no reason your pit bull should not be spayed or neutered. Spaying and neutering is a responsible decision as an owner and a healthy one at that.

Consider a one time donation to the NEPA Pit Fix program! Any amount you choose, donations are tax deductible!
Consider sponsoring a spay or neuter for $50! If you are sponsoring a specific dog please make note of the dog's name and owner's last name.

The NEPA Pit Fix is a low cost spay/neuter program offered by Luzerne County Pit Bull Owners, Inc. to assist dog owners with the often high cost of these important surgeries.

The NEPA Pit Fix is a year round program with no limit on the amount of dogs that can be altered under the program, which is why we are unable to offer the service completely free.* The program was designed to help pit bull owners in Northeast Pennsylvania.

Low Cost Prices:

Male Neuter - $50.00**

Female Spay - $50.00**

Reasons To Spay and Neuter:

-          You love your dog and want him/her to live a long healthy life!

Unaltered dogs are at a higher risk for certain cancers

-          You want your dog to live a life free from unwanted frustration and stress!

Unaltered dogs are prone to escape and wander looking for a mate

-          You support rescue and you want to set a good example!

It is estimated that only 1 out of every 600 pit bulls born will find a home and they make up the largest percentage of any shelter population

*$50 cost covers surgery, pain meds and rabies vaccination.

**Additional veterinary care is responsibility of dog owner

***Payment and appointments must be made through Luzerne County Pit Bull Owners, Inc.
