Some new and exciting news!
Our foster dogs are now eligible to work with their foster parents to become eligible to pass C.L.A.S.S. ( Canine Life & Social Skills).
We are just starting this program but check often for our avail-a-bullies that have worked hard enough in training that they have passed C.L.A.S.S.
This is made possible by the time Erin of Cognitive Canines donates to LCPO!

You can find all of our current avail-a-bullies by clicking here: NEPA Avail-a-bullies

Am I Ready to Adopt?
a check list

-Do I have a stable home environment to provide the dog of my adoption choice?
a schedule and stability is very important, especially in the first few weeks to month after adoption

-Do I plan to dedicate time to exercise as well as quality time to my adopted dog, for the life of the dog?
pit bull and pit bull mix dogs are generally dogs with energy, they require stimulation, exercise and daily one on one time with their humans.

-Do I understand that adopting a rescue dog is a comittment for the lifetime of that dog?
adoption is a big commitment for the life of the dog. it is important to keep in mind once you adopt your dog they are yours and rely on you to meet their needs, for life.

-Have I provided myself with the knowledge on pit bulls as a whole as well as the individual dog of my adoption choice?

-Do I intend on providing my dog with the most responsible care by providing him or her with positive reinforcement training?
At any point in time, at any age, any dog of any breed may require training assistance for new unwanted behaviors or to maintain a responsible ownership of your dog.

-Did I read and understand the LCPO NEPA Avail-a-bullies adoption guide and other adoption related materials?
It is important to thoroughly read and understand our adoption materials before adopting your dog. We take our adoptions and our dogs very seriously and expect that our adopters are doing the same!

Interested in adopting a NEPA Avail-a-bully?
Please visit our Petfinder at nepabullies.petfinder.org for more info on each of our dogs!

Adoption is a serious decision and we hope one that is never taken lightly by our adopters. Below you will find important information on adoption, please make sure you have read and fully understood all of this information before applying to adopt one of our dogs!

In addition to the literature we offer, Alison Santiago of Pawsitively Motivating offers Pre-Adoption counseling. Visit her site at www.pawsitivelymotivating@gmail.com for more info!
In addition to Pre-Adoption counseling & literature, LCPO in conjunction with Pawsitively Motivating Dog Training offers the Pit Bull Parenting 101 Seminar, please check out the information and plan to attend one of our seminars!

LCPO Adopters are required to read our adoption literature, fully complete and return our adoption application, provide references for a reference check (yes we do really check your references), home check (yes we do, always, perform the home check) and upon approval sign an adoption contract and pay a $200 adoption fee.
Why a $200 adoption fee? We are a non-profit organization, we require a $200 adoption fee on all of our dogs regardless of age and regardless of the cost we have put out which is generally always greater than $200.
We do not take or require a "hold fee" on our dogs, there is no fee to apply to adopt, your dog will come to you with all medical needs met unless otherwise stated.

*LCPO reserves the right to approve or deny any application as they sit fit.

LCPO is a Force Free organization.
Following the AVSAB (American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior) mission statement, we train our dogs without the use of Coercion (choke, prong, shock collars), intimidation, or dominance theory.

By using Positive Reinforcement we gain faster compliance, a love of learning while creating a solid relationship between human and dog built on mutual respect and trust.
